Beautiful scenery, a beautiful story and a happy ending... and let's not forget the amazing actors. Robert Pattinson is simply excellent and more beautiful and seductive than ever before. Stepping far from the character of Edward Cullen, he plays a veterinarian in a circus during the 1930s. In this role he proves that he is an excellent actor. Reese Witherspoon is equally good and her chemistry with Robert is beautiful... there is no doubt that this movie will become the great success that it deserves to be. People will certainly talk about it for a long time to come.

Water for Elephants diretto da Francis Lawrence è un bellissimo e romantico film pieno di emozione. Un film hollywoodiano che si unisce al cinema americano tradizionale. Bellissima scenografia, una bellissima storia e un finale felice...e non dimentichiamoci dei fantastici attori. Robert Pattinson è semplicemente eccellente , bello e seduttivo piu' che mai. Lontanissimo dal personaggio di Edward Cullen, interpreta un veterinaio in un circo negli anni 30'. In questo ruolo prova che è un attore eccellente. Reese Witherspoon è altrettanto buona e la sua alchimia con Robert è bellissima...non c'è dubbio che questo film avrà un grande successo, il successo che merita. Le persone ne parleranno sicuramente per molto tempo a venire...

Water for Elephants is a suprising turn for the director of Constantine and I Am Legend. The fears about his unfamiliarity with the romantic genre were understandable but in this movie he quickly proves that he has understood the expectations of his new audience.

Water for Elephants proportions perfectly the ingredients needed to make a traditional romantic movie without adding too much sweetness into the mix. However, one could be put off by the opening: an old man telling his story, narrating it as a voice-over - the opening is in fact the only bad thing about the film. Once the film takes us into the past of the hero, Jacob (Robert Pattinson) the story shifts without difficulty into a well constructed classic scenario based not only on romantic issues but also on the nomad universe in which the characters evolve. A universe that Lawrence chose to convey not through the prism of baroque fantasy or dreams but with realism, with all the social misery that the period of the Great Depression entailed. The metaphorical dimension of the train whose employees have become useless is inescapable. This is the context in which Robert Pattinson plays the archetypal character of an educated young man turned outcast following the death of his parents who becomes a foreigner in his own world and decides to abandon it. As you might expect, he falls in love with Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), the wife of August (Christoph Waltz), the violent and unstable boss.

This is done differently to the style of Tarantino. Yet, emotions are truly heightened through the character of Rosie the elephant who will become the object of a power struggle both within the circus and in Marlena's heart. Animal lovers, this film is for you.

So yes, with its familiar themes and melodramatic moments (which are tastefully done and not too pronounced), this new Francis Lawrence creation is one of those romantic movies that will quickly find its way into people's hearts. It demonstrates that classicism in a movie is not always a drawback. Un semplice eroe, una femme fatale intrappolata da un marito tiranno, un amore impossibile...tutti gli ingredienti fanno del film un successo, specialmente per il suo cast da sogno. Water for Elephants è una sorpresa per il regista di Costantine e I am Legend. Le paure per la sua scarsa familiarità con il genere romantico erano comprensibili ma in questo film prova che Lawrence ha compreso perfettamente le aspettative per il suo nuovo pubblico.
Water for Elephants proporziona perfettamente gli ingredienti di cui si ha bisogno per fare un classico film d'amore senza mettere troppa dolcezza nel mix. Tuttavia si poteva tagliare l'inizio : un vecchio uomo che racconta la sua storia, una voce fuori campo. In effetti l'inizio è l'unica cosa cattiva nel film. Una volta che il film ci porta nel passato dell'eroe, Jacob (Robert Pattinson) <span id="result_box" lang="it">la storia si sposta senza difficoltà in uno scenario ben costruito basato non solo su temi romantici, ma anche nell'universo nomade in cui i personaggi si evolvono. Un universo che Lawrence ha scelto di non trasmettere attraverso il prisma della fantasia barocca o sogni, ma con realismo, con tutta la miseria sociale che il periodo della Grande Depressione comportava. La dimensione metaforica del treno i cui dipendenti sono diventati inutili è inevitabile. Questo è il contesto in cui Robert Pattinson interpreta il personaggio archetipico di un uomo colto giovane emarginato trasformato in seguito alla morte dei suoi genitori che diventa uno straniero nel suo mondo e decide di abbandonarlo. Come ci si potrebbe aspettare, si innamora di Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), moglie di August (Christoph Waltz), il boss violento e instabile.

Con un regista così ambizioso, il charm di Water for Elephants ovviamente si basa anche sul suo cast: Robert Pattinson e Reese Witherspoon formano una bella coppia sullo schermo. Allontanatosi da Twilight e Remember Me , Pattinson prova in questo film che il suo talmento non è limitato alla sua bellezza e rende molto accattivamente Jacob, armato della suo sorriso fanciullesco. Tuttavia Lawrence qualche volta ha mancato l'opportunità per la sensualità nelle scene tra l'eroe e la sua partner. Il regista riesce a sollevare le tensioni del triangolo amoroso, con Christoph Waltz eccellente nel suo ruolo di potente e psicopatico che è terrificante e imprevedibile.<span id="result_box" lang="it">Questo viene fatto in maniera diversa dallo stile di Tarantino. Eppure, le emozioni sono davverointense attraverso il personaggio di Rosie l'elefante che diventerà l'oggetto di una lotta di potere sia all'interno del circo che nel cuore di Marlena.
